Clutch throwout bearing noise [Sound Clip]
Hello all,
After endless research and prowling on the forums no doughtably this is a common topic for us 370z owners. At first when I purchased this vehicle I was concerned with the minute clunks and clatters of the release bearings and pressure plates, however recently I started noticing an abrupt grinding sound when pressing and releasing the clutch. I uploaded a sound clip below, wondering if anyone else has similar symptoms and if not assured then I will bring the car to Nissan to get looked into. 370z Clutch throwout bearing noise - YouTube Thanks GD |

I have the same issue but my only make noise when the weather is cold. The dealership cannot find anything wrong when I brought my in because it's already warm up plus I live in Arizona sp the weather is warm.
If your make noise everytime , bring it to the dealership and have them to check it out. |

Get an upgraded CSC and just change that whole stock unit out.

ZSpeed does make a nice upgraded CSC for these cars. I would still consider getting the dealership involved if your Z is newer and lower milage. Maybe they can cover the labor of your CSC upgrade under warranty .

I have yet to see a stock bearing fail on a CSC, usually the seal goes that holds the pressure from the clutch and then you get no pedal in the car.

I am interested to know if anyone else experiences the same noise or perhaps it can be a seal issue as Mitco stated and in that case it should be covered under warranty ?
My dealership is excellent in attending to my needs as per past experience with warranty claims. The car is an 09 with 65k so, power train warranty should be 5 years from what I understand. |

Thread is a little old but I'm going to bump it up and see if you got an answer from the dealer. This noise just started at 30, 000 mi on my car. It sounds exactly the same as your video. I have a 6 puck with lw flywheel and the upgraded csc, so a total different set up making the same noise. Dealer will not even diagnose the issue due to the upgraded clutch. Service advisor was adament that it was the input shaft bearing...
It seems unlikely that the issue has anything to do with my clutch since we have a video of the stock one doing the same thing. What did they end up telling you? Did they repair the issue on your car? Last edited by crystalline; 10-17-2013 at 03:19 PM. |

OP indicated to me that the dealer diagnosed the problem as a csc failure. This seems unlikely as the symptoms of a typical failure do not match with this noise. Csc failed on my car thus I upgraded the clutch and csc. Anyone else take a listen to the clip and have any ideas?
