CSF radiator install, NEED HELP!!!
Was putting in my new CSF radiator today and ran into a problem.
http://i1266.photobucket.com/albums/...E790C961B9.jpg When I went to top retainers back in I found that the pins on the radiator don't line up with the holes anymore. The question for the people with these radiators is what has to get trimmed? Do I just open up the holes for the retainers or do I have to do some trimming on the fan shroud? |
You have to trim the radiator shroud on the inside so the CSF can go all the way back to put the locks on.
I had to do this on both of mine. |
I didn't have to do anything. But the trimming wouldn't surprise me. It's modding 101.
|
Mine had to be trimmed as well. Just one of those things.
|
so the manufacturer didn't make it fit from the factory? You have to cut it to fit?

I do agree though that CSF should have just offset the mounting pins so that trimming wouldn't be necessary. |

Bringing this thread back from the dea, but can someone help me understand exactly what part of the radiator fan shroud I need to trim? I trimmed up some parts near the bottom core support but im still getting a fitment issue. I cant see exactly where its hitting that I would need to trim but it is definitely hitting something.
|
IIRC the trimming was along each side of the shroud. It was essentially trim a little then test fit and then trim some more until it actually fit. I used a dremel with the flex shaft attachment for the trimming.

Google "Project Nissan 370Z - Keeping it cool with a CSF radiator" and there should be an article near the top of the search. In that article there are pictures of where and what to trim.
I think the pictures are on page 4 of the article. |
I'll check that out. Thanks for the leads guys!
