Here is the final cut version. Yes, cut exactly 1.700 inches. So, the final shaft length should be very close to 3.3 inches. Took me 45 minutes to do all this. Beats spending $160.00 on the new short shaft. Getting ready to bring this diff assembly for professional installation and adjustment.

Well, the project is done. Quaife is properly installed and calibrated inside the differential case with all new bearings, spacer and seals along with the Whiteline diff bushing set. After 1200 miles of driving normal to semi hard so far ( No track yet ), this is my opinion :
1) Very quiet. I do not hear any additional noise from the Quaife itself at all 2) The Whiteline rear diff bushings really put the wheel to the ground. Again, I do not feel any noise increase. 3) Much better manual traction control ( VDC off) during hard turns when 1 wheel started slipping. So overall, as long as you install the unit and adjust everything to Nissan specs, you shall have a real reliable and sticky back end. Don't forget to torque all of the relevant bolts and nuts to specs after installing the diff assembly into the vehicle, or there will be future issues. |
