Make sure you have the paper work as well so there's record of the work done on your car.

mhcoss 06-06-2013 04:34 PM

Pretty unbelievable right! ! Before I do anything im going to make sure its burning coolant ans not my imagination. Its showing the same signs it showed before... burning smell on ignition and some white smoke out the tailpipe. Sadly I am not surprised!!

 I'm sorry to hear about this. Nissan needs to buy this car back.

Here in the US we can go to a local parts store and get a "head gasket leak kit". It's a small plastic tube with some chemical. Put the tube over the coolant fill, start car, rev a couple times. If the chemical in the tube changes color, the head gasket is blown as the chemical detects combustion gasses. You may have something similar where you are and you'd know right away.

At the very least, Nissan should have made your car payments for you while they had the car, and given you a free car to drive.

Fixed

Let Andrew stir up Nissan a bit - he's pretty fucking good at it :icon17:

Well I got my buddy to rev it up while I stood behind it and when it revs I detected a faint whisp of white smoke.. kinda how it first started. Could definitely smell it as well. Motor is making all kinds of vavle noise as well.. .

I'm going to try that headgasket kit. If it is blown at this point anythign other than a brand new factory motor dropped into my car within the week is unacceptable. I called the stealership and they got in an argument with me and the service dude even went so far as to suggest it was my driving that caused this. Since I got the car back it hasn't even seen more than 5000 rpms.

What really gets me is I told the shop over and over that this was my concern and that they had done nothing to address root cause of failure. They assured me they examined 'everything' and it would not fail again. how could nissan possibly be this incompetent? How could they do a shoddy patch repair job on a brand new car that costs over 30k? Its clear to me as day now why Nissan has not been performing as well in the last few years.

In all likelihood, one of the heads and or the mating surface of the block has an imperfection somewhere that is allowing this to happen. I've not seen other reports of HG problems on these cars so it's not common which leads me to believe it's a machining defect.

DIGItonium 06-06-2013 09:29 PM

Don't do anything! Don't fix it by pouring stuff in or you can be liable. You have warranty. Let them fix it.

Oops sorry when I think head gasket kit I think stop leak stuff that you pour in the radiator.

Take it to Erickson Infiniti for a second opinion. The head mechanic and floor mechanics there are far better than at the Nissan brand.

See what they say

luigi90210 06-07-2013 02:09 AM

honestly dude if i were you, id sure the dealer, id sure NNA, and i would give the dealer and NNA so much bad publicity.

it looks like you are in the classic situation i usually hear about at car meets though(you know dealer wont fix ****, car is broken due to defect, and car is stuck like that)

have you thought about fixing it yourself or taking it to another place that can fix it?

anyhow OP good luck with everything, i hate for you to have to deal with this BS much longer

DEpointfive0 06-07-2013 02:12 AM

I wouldn't fix it myself, but I'd twitter NNA and all other Nissans in the same post. And repeat on FB

IDZRVIT 06-07-2013 07:05 AM

Contact your local TV station or newspaper that has a journalist who deals with consumer problems.

DIGItonium 06-07-2013 07:11 AM

Make no attempts to fix anything. If they find out he is SOL. Workmanship is warrantied for a year.
