Someone in the DFW area who can rebuild a 370z motor

Long story short...... Oil filter failure causing a knock in the motor. The motor is out of the car and needs rebuilt. My options are find someone local (which if preferable) or put a used/rebuilt motor in. Can anyone recommend someone in the Dallas/Ft Worth area that can rebuild my motor?

I don't know your budget, if I would have a lot of confidence from the JoTech guys in Garland. They won't be cheap, but I would trust the motor when it was done...

Thanks! I've known Kenny for a long time and you are right, he is good. And, your also right that he's expensive. Really looking for a basic rebuild. If all else fails I'll give Kenny a buzz, but for 3 grand I can get a used motor.

Thanks! Guess I've been doing this hot rodding stuff too long as I also know Kim. Called the shop and he doesn't do Nissan stuff so I've decided to just buy a motor and get it over with. I'll then figure out what to do with my existing one.

Just a piece of advice from someone who's been there before, you're going to kick yourself later for not taking the opportunity now to do something with the engine. I mean, you already have to throw down some money anyway, you might as well make it worth your while.

4.2L stroker? Forged everything? Hot cams? Higher compression?

Ya, me too. Kenny really is a great guy and in fact talked to him last fall at a meet. When I pulled the top and bottom oil pans the tiny bearing pieces in the oil pan and in the filter didn't match what I thought it was. So it needs to be gone through deeper to see what it is. Not expensive to fix, just time consuming. In making phone calls, I'm surprised none of the machine shops work on them. If you bring them the pieces they will, but they won't do a complete disassemble and rebuild.

What I may do is either sell it "as is" to someone wanting to do a complete stroker motor. My biggest issue is the price of the stroker parts. About three times what they should be or I would have done it for myself.

If you call the guys from IPP (importpartspro) maybe they can help you, they sell/build engines and what's great for us texas guys is that they're assembly factory is in dallas. Local pickup and no shipping

I would suggest finding someone who can build/ship the engine and have a local shop do the final install.
This way you can get someone you know is good (and not overpriced).

If you don't have to mess with the heads, I would just do it yourself. Its really not that complicated to rebuild a bottom end.

Has the oil pan been dropped? Just curious to see how the rods are from the bottom and see which one is loose.
