No, I wouldn't unless it was recommended highly or was proven w/ street vehicle use and the extra cost being "worth" it...same with AMSOIL and their ball bearing test. Last I checked, there aren't any ball bearings in a car engine.

Personally, I think as long as the oil and filter are changed at the manufacturer's recommended intervals, one could easily put in the cheapest oil that meets the specifications and the engine should be fine.

Amsoil, Redline, Motul, et al is recommended highly and has been proven, esp with long OCI's.

Im really just joshin ya now :tiphat:, I used Nissan filters and Syntec in my 350 with amazing results(UOA proven), so Im still not 100% sold on Redline et al just yet. I do have time and money to spare though so wth

My first oil change was @ 1900 miles. I used PP with the K&N filter. The engine is quieter with PP than with the Nissan break in oil. The easy accessibility of PP & cost ($20) was the key factors. I plan on changing the oil every 3 to 4K.

So you are saying that the valvetrain did not make any extra noise once the Nissan ester oil was replaced with PP? It actually got quieter?

I’m not certain if Nissan used ester oil for factory break in! PP was noticeably quieter in the VVEL intake valves. My normal driving oil temps with PP is 220. When driven like a whore, it jumps to 245. It has never reached 260. Maybe living and driving in Connecticut with daytime highest ambient temperatures averaging 85 (July) is the reason. In addition, PP is formulated with Adaptive Molecules, which help resist the breakdown caused by heat, shear and pressure in your engine.

I wouldn't make a conclusion based on feel alone. The 350s were getting great UOA results with PP but I'd like to see one from a 370 before I jump on it.

I called my dealership to see if they had this oil. When I got the car, they told me I had "free" oil changes for life. Now if I "want" this oil, its another $45 additional. At
$11 a qt, this crap better make my car float, lol...

In my opinion, the oil that Nissan recommends is marketing hype. I'm feeling more and more confident that using a higher quality synthetic will perform the same, if not better. The best part about that is, they are all cheaper (except Motul).

Definitely update whenever you do the UOA with the PP. I think there is a thread just for this actually. I'll be ordering my Amsoil in the next week or so and then I'll have a UOA on it in a few months.

I trust amsoil.. They don't make conventional oil at all, they specialize in synthetic.

Same could be said of Mobil1

A used oil analysis on a similar engine is the only thing I'll really trust, but that is for serious analysis. In all honesty just about any synthetic and 5K changes will work just fine.

Coming from a rotary world, i can only say that Royal Purple products where the ones to be chosen as far as wear reduction, heating and HP (yes HP) improvments.
I am a true fan of RP with my previous car (Maxda Rx-8). I did about 15 track events over the last 3 years and had different oils analysed. RP was always the winnner...
My Z will be arriving next week and you can be sure that i will switch to RP as soon as i hit the 5-7K mark.
Anyone using RP products in the Z world?

Not a lot of love for RP here AFAIK - here or otherwise...

Rotory world is different - you can't, or shouldn't, use synthetic for example.
