oil cooler question
so im prepping my car for boost. first thing on order this month will be a 25 row oil cooler. i am thinking about z1's kit since it has a thermostatic sandwich plate.
my question is, how crucial is it to have a thermostatic sandwich plate? is this mainly for cold weather driving or is it to get the cars oil up to tempurature quickly? i never really have my car out in winter much as it is

Very difficult to get the car to operating temp without it.
I would say the minor cost savings of getting a non-thermostatic would not be near worth it. Also, for boost especially, 25 row is kinda small. I'd consider the larger model, for sure. |

I think 25 will be fine IF your not tracking it. But KCMO weather can get hot, and when it does, you will could possibly see some heat issues. But C'mon Edub, if your putting down FI money, spend the extra couple hundred and do the 34. It will do a much better job. I have my 72 row I'm trying to get to fit with a FMIC lol

I'm no expert, but I wouldn't put an oil cooler without the thermo valve on a daily driver. It takes too long to get the oil up to operating temp without it.

I don't have one, but look where I live.... I just let it warm up for 5-7 min and then drive it easy if it's cool outside.

Looks like the thermostatic sandwich plate is a go then! Is z1 the only ones to offer the thermostatic plate?
