Car won't start & pending Code P0340

My 2011 Nismo with 15K miles is pissing me off today. Car has been great since I bought it will 6K miles in May.

Only slight thing I have noticed lately is that I hear that "crinkling" engine sound when the car is cold since the temps have dropped around here. When the oil temp rises it goes away.

Anyway, today I pull out of my drive way. Start to go. That crinkling sound gets loud and the car dies. I had 3 lights on the fuel meter.

I go get gas (with my other car), fill it half tank, change key fobs just in case, and run my scanner. It comes up with a pending P0340 (P0340 - Camshaft Position Sensor (Phase) Circuit (Bank 1). Clear it and cross my fingers.

Nada.

Car is still under warranty but just wondering if anyone knows what this is.

As an FYI: 2011 Nismo, 15K miles, battery starting at 14V ended at 12V after all my attempts, next oil change not due until 19K.

Thanks in advance.

Just so that you know................when the CAS fails or dies, there is no way for the engine to keep timing. There are a variety of things that could be wrong, but not limited to the CAS being bad (if that is the case). If you are intent on fixing it without going to a shop or dealer, you will need the FSM to assist you with troubleshooting.

Assuming nothing mechanical, probably a bad sensor.

It's all good. I had to battle that timing issue on all of my S13s and my friend's Mazda 6. The dealer should square you away without much of an issue.

That doesn't sound good at all. Can't internet diag that but it doesn't sound like the cam/crank timing is right.
