New car, oil leak and dealer explanation
Recently purchased a new 2012 Z manual, sports package. I installed a front bar after around 100 miles and everything was clean and normal. At around 600 miles I adjusted the front bar setting and notice oil on the passenger side endlinks, lower control arm and shock. Also if you take the passenger wheel off , there is a small plastic panel (parallel with the wheel) that is held with fender fasteners. That had a good amount of oil on it. There was no oil by the filter.
I checked the oil level and it was middle between L and H. Not to take any chance I put some oem oil in to be safe (almost one quart). To be fair I think don't remember if I checked the oil before this incident. Brought it to the dealer and they said the oil residue is castor oil that the factory put on the engine and other parts to protect from rusting while shipping it here. Anyone heard of this or is the dealer giving me some Bravo Sierra? |
