Oil filter of choice
First off, don't flame me for placing this topic in the wrong category. I tried doing multiple searches and didn't find what I was looking for.
Have had my Z for a year now and would like to again change the oil before I put it away for the winter. Have seen multiple posts suggesting either the K&N or the Purolator Pure One filter over the OEM. Has anyone ever cut one of these filters open to see how much fiber there actually is? Am tossed between the Purolator's larger size and what I've seen from previous experience with the K&N. That being, even though the K&N is smaller, it has more fiber to absorb. Just like many other owners, choosing the right filter when we have several choices isn't all that easy. Info, suggestions backed up with information is more towards what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance... Pat |

I have aways ran Amsoil oil and filters in all of my cars and they have never had a problem. Also, Amsoil is known for filtration down into the microns. Used it on my 350z and every other car. Just my two cents.

59,000+ miles and no complain so far. Started using this from 3,600 miles. But I did like the K&N too but this one is about 5 bucks cheaper. So, I went with this. There's a thread where a member cut all different types of oil filters. You may have to go to bobistheoilguy forum. Moved to engine section

I use the Purolator, probably because I used AK's DIY. Not sure about the differences in performance of the two sizes people seem to go between (stock size or a little bigger). The best thing is to just change your oil regularly, that's more important than OEM vs. KN vs. Purolator

Hi Pat, it's an oil filter...don't loose sleep over it dude. Try searching on Google for oil filter comparisons. This has been beat to death...resurrected, and then beat to death over and over. I use a Classic Purolator filter from Walmart. I believe they are $3 |

Thanks for the info...
I realize it's an oil filter. But I also know i'm quite fond of this particular car and don't mind paying extra for the "right" filter. Will more than likely go with the Purolator simply because it's a larger filter which should be able to hold more oil....Thanks for the feedback...

im a big fan of the mobil 1 oil filter. If you want a bigger filter you can use the filter for the titan on the z. Its got the same type of thread bolt and also the same housing sizes.
