Oil cooler question (high pitched sound)
Recently installed an oil cooler on my Z (2days after I got it, so I'm still not that familiar with the car). After the install, I hear a high pitched sound whenever I rev the car or drive it (around 2,000-up rpm, the sound I think is covered with the engine roar at 4,000rpm up).
Is this normal? Engine oil level is at max based on the dip stick. Tried driving it hard twice and seems that there is no leak. I'm not sure if it's normal or there's something wrong. Any of you guys experienced this sound after the oil cooler install? Thanks. |
I had an oil cooler (GTM kit) and never experience what you are describing. I know some first year Z's had a high pitched sounded related to the ecu but I have never heard of this issue after an oil cooler install.

I think there was a thread that covered this. IIRC, it was the oil cooler hoses rubbing on another component and the vibrations caused the whining.
Edit: Fix = http://www.the370z.com/engine-drivet...-have-fix.html |
NYBladeZ,
I'll try to check that too. :) Boost_lee, Thanks for posting the link. Seems similar to my case, i'll try the DIY this weekend. Thanks again! :) |
What brand of oil cooler you used and how many rows? Thanks
