direct injection

when did the 370z get direct injection? did it always have it? if not, what benefits did it give? H.P.+? M.P.G improvement?

Don't know if we have it or not TBO... it just gives a better fuel mixture which yields some small performance and fuel efficiency gains.

It gives MUCH better HP, (10%) and much better emissions...

The 370Z doesn't have direct injection. The link you posted says direct ignition.

No DI for the 370z. IMO, we won't see it on this generation. Wouldn't be surprised to see it in Nissan's new 3 liter turbo motor, however, which may/may not go into the next Z.

:iagree: The next gen Z will probably get DI regardless of whether it stays N/A or goes FI.

I told you!! :p

I was going to say... no way we would get 33hp from moving the injectors to the top of the block.

MaDMaXX 06-21-2012 03:04 PM

The accuracy of injection control allows it these days, it saves the intake runners getting it/valves getting in the way, by injecting it straight into the cylinder like the spark plug is.

Fancy diesels have had it for some years, but they're built like tractors anyway and need all the help they can get.

The new VK56 motor in the M56 has VVEL and direct injection. It's running 420 hp and 417 lb ft of torque. This is in a luxury vehicle and most likely toned down a bit. Now we need a mad scientist to get that in a Z. I'm salivating at the mouth right now.

Heh, yeah that'd be cool, just remember that they're 5.6 litre V8's ;)

Which would be awesome if they could fit it in the Z :icon17:
