Times have changed & a lot of things have gotten a lot better over time (oil, engines & etc......). As the first quote stated the gentlemen changed his oil at 7.5k miles & abused his car daily & the analysis came back to run the oil until 10k miles. Everyone have there on opinion on when they want to change their oil. If you want to change your oil every week go ahead & do so.

For folks like yourself who need that extra security, then keep getting your analysis. I have yet to have one in 40+ years of car ownership along with millions of others and never had an engine failure related to oil going 'bad'. Oh, btw, I did OA at one time way back when I was in the navy. OA has it's place - in industry, race car teams, military, etc. But for the everyday guy who doesn't track his car it's a waste of money to have them tell you that your good to the next oil change. Hmmm, come to think of it, it's pretty obvious the engineers have had this figured out for decades. How do you think they came up with those oil change schedules?

Hey guys! I got my lab report back today, (I'm not going to post the actual report because it has some of my info on it and I don't feel like blacking stuff out right now). If you want specifics, let me know.
This is for Redline full synthetic oil with the Purolator Pure 1 oil filter. I ran this oil and filter for 6,400 miles before changing. My car is a daily driver and hasn't been tracked. Blackstone states that the universal averages for our engines are based on an oil run of 4,800 miles. I ran this oil for 6,400 and all wear averages read below the average. My TBN read 1.9 (a low reading would be 1), which means that my oil still had some active additives left. No moisture, coolant or fuel was found in my sample and the insolubles were excellent at 0.2% (which means that the Purolator filter is doing an excellent job; also the magnetic drain plug probably helped). Blackstone labs suggests running the oil to 7,500 miles next time and then do another test. These are just my results and not everyone will be the same...but hopefully this gives everyone a pretty good idea at just how good this oil and filter combo is (and totally worth the money).

^ you are very right. Hopefully this puts a damper on the debate about how long you can run synthetic oil. Granted everyone's situation is going to be different (tracking vs. DD), but nonetheless...synthetics can be run longer than what the manual suggests.
