Used Oil Cooler Question.
I bought the Stillen Oil Cooler from one of the members on the forum. And it has some oil in the lines and the cooler itself. So my question is should I take it somewhere to get it flushed and then install with my own oil? Or can I Install with the oil it has already? I just got the car about 2 months ago and I haven't gotten an oil change so the oil is "oem". And if I do need to get it flushed, any idea how I could do that? Or where I could take it to be done?
Thanks in advance. Mario. |
I would buy 6 qts of oil that you are decided to go with (valvoline, mobil 1, castrol, redline, etc). Emty the residual oil out of the lines and cooler. You should be fine after it all drains out. Make sure you fill the cooler core after you install it on your car that way most of the added oil circuit has oil flow.

That wouldn't mess with the oil that the car has already though? Is it ok to mix two different types of oil?

Why don't you just use some compressed air and blow the old oil out. It shouldn't take make pressure to do it. Block off one line and blast the other.
What size cooler did you get? |
With the low amount of residual no it won't matter
