I replied on the causes of transmission rattle on the other forum in extensive detail when answering Zoltan's great question. If you want to understand the root cause of the noise, you can go there and read my answer. For the short version, basically it just annoying and it doesn't hurt anything or mean that your car is going to blow up or anything. I think every car I have ever driven with an aluminum transmission case makes this noise to some extent or other when warm. On some cars its barely audible but the Z is on the more noisier side of the scale.

I dont really have a chatter, more of a whirring noise when Im in high RPMs. Its more pronounced in the lower gears. I dont mind it.

The only strange noises I hear are when I execute bad launches from first or clutch out really fast with a large load on the trannie aka going down a hill or gunning it to a light etc.

I'm starting to feel very solid with the trannie and now very seldom hear the chatter and rattles

Default Z is in shop Transmission noise

I originally thought the noise was the throw-out bearing, so i was not too concerned. The dealer says the transmission needs to be replaced. I have never had problems shifting, so this really surprises me.
