I was working on something but had an issue and the Rona put a complete stop on it. I was going to have gears made too.

These guys might be able to help (they have US based dealers) and I have used their T5 gearsets in my Historic Race car in the past

These guys make the axles for my historic race car

They'll both require a sample to make a replacement gear.

Bumpity bump!
Old thread I know.... But I'm grinding when shifting hard into second, and 6th grinds when it's cold.
I do my best to baby it currently. I'm running redline MT85 with AmsOil synchro Mesh which has helped quite a lot.
I'm about to boost the poor thing and I'm wondering if there has been any progress on parts or a rebuilder?

Any word on if this is something we can get yet? My trans shifts slowly between 1 and 2 and 3. It shifts fine when not WOT. I'd like to get a transmission that will hold up to boosted E85 punishment instead of cooking transmissions over and over. Getting it done over the winter is ideal, I'm a Minnesota boy.

Are you still on the factory clutch? If so, this is your problem.

Oh dear lord no. I run a JWT single disk combo rated at 700 foot pounds. I know you're being thorough, but does anyone boost on a stock clutch?

I heard in the Boosted VQs FB group that a guy named Spooler was "working on something" until covid hit. Would this be you?

What JWT clutch are you running that's rated at 700ft.lbs? The one I used to run was only rated at 600ft.lbs. and I assume that was crank torque.

Yeah, I was working on it. I needed a couple of complete broken input shafts. I needed both sides. Unless I break one myself, this is a no go. It will stay on the back burner. Too busy to mess with it right now.

For a fast shift you need to reduce the spinning mass of the clutch. Carbon clutches are your friend but they are expensive. Look at an ATS triple carbon. Call MA-Motorsports.com. Talk to Jon. They can hook you up. It takes a while to get them, they come from Japan.

Are you the guy on Facebook that has been yayaya'ing? If so, it sounds like you need new syncros for 1st, 3rd, and 5th. New transmissions from Nissan are not too pricey. 1800 or so. If I was able to get a billet input shaft made you know just the shaft would cost 1k without install. That stuff is not cheap.

Yes, I brought this subject up in Boosted VQs. It's hard for me.to believe that there isn't a kit available for these transmissions considering the way the synchros fail with boosted applications. I've seen quite a few posts about trans problems over the last number of months that I've been a part of the community. I figured that if I encouraged discussion there too, perhaps it would get some kind of response from someone who had either built a stronger solution, or could point me in the right direction for upgrade kits, or perhaps at least someone I could shop mine to for some modifications since mine is still shifting well and not grinding yet. I've owned 3 of these now, one of which had a new trans put in under warranty. Both the others shifted so much faster than mine is now. Neither of those were boosted though. I didn't warranty this one because an adjuster.would tell me to **** right off as soon as they looked under the car or under the hood. I still don't like the idea of buying a whole new trans to fix a few parts that are wearing... but it seems like it's our only recourse.

The thing is there's an opportunity for someone to make a lot of money making a durable trans or by putting together an upgrade kit for this car... people love boosting them, tracking them, and drifting them. If I was a trained transmission mechanic I'd jump at a chance to start up a company. I really don't think success is "pie in the sky" on this. There is a market for this... it's just waiting for someone to jump on it.

The problem is the folks that want it don't want to pay for it.
