that's great, yeah its about 700-750hp the brazing goes, had 2 or 3 old customers that had it happen at the strip. there used to be a gear shop in Australia that sold a laser welded replacement but it was almost $700 for the one gear/shaft.

I've been getting grinding in 2nd gear and crunchy shifting in 3rd. Do you think a rebuild is a good option for me? This is my DD.
I changed my trans oil and differential oil this weekend to MT-85, still grinding, requires double clutch to shift smoothly. Last edited by kaliwraith; 10-23-2017 at 03:29 PM. Reason: added bit about trans oil |

So I read this whole thread but can't find where I can get a hold of these upgraded synchros? I've had my car for 4 years (been boosted for the last 3 years) and it's always scratched if I shift into 5th or 6th too quickly. I've just been living with it but I'd love to find a solution!

Question. Is our manual tranny the same as in the 350Z?

Doesn't look like it.
The 350Z MT part numbers start with 32010***** The 370Z MT part numbers start with 320B0*****

I cannot thank you enough for the rebuild. It's been nice not having to worry about it now.

From what I can tell they are the same inside. Both have the same gear ratios.
Gear ratio 1st 3.794 2nd 2.324 3rd 1.624 4th 1.271 5th 1.000 6th 0.794

Bumping this up.
I have my old transmission apart, lost 5th and 6th. Found the shift fork rod was completely sheared. A few gears were grinding prior. I put a brand new trans from Nissan in however I would like to build my old transmission for high power and reliability as this car is becoming a dedicated competitive drift car. I have found ZERO information on where to get any upgraded internals available after reading through this entire thread. Some guy from Carver Motorsport or something like that? |
