I contacted NISperformance and they said they had a CD009 carbon lined synchro ring in the works. Should be ready in the next few months!

We finally have a fix for the garbage synchro's in the car. I will fix my 5TH gear synchro and then re-build my old trans with the new carbon synchro's when they are ready. I informed them that we could create a group buy to try and get some sort of discount. If you want to be put on their list of people to notify you can just email nisperformance in their contact section or PM me and when their ready ill email you back and we can do a group buy like that!

Im extremely excited for the fix.

Also i agree whole heartedly on the flat foot shifting. Big no-no. Also ive tried MT85 with redline and when i put that in the trans i started having major issues. So i use the factory stuff.

let me know whos interested in these rings, im not profiting from this what so ever also just incase anyone was wondering. Nor do i have a tie to Nisperformance.
Idea on price?

I told him we were all wondering what these part numbers were and off of what transmission from a ford did he find the synchro’s. Heres what he told me :” They were custom synchros I had lined. The idea came from our abuse of the 350/370 trans in road racing. Tremec made carbon lined ones for the T56,TKO, and 6060 transmissions. The issue with us building them was an OEM box was only 1400 at the time and on the shelf. Just a run of the liners for the synchros was 30k. We made two runs when APR was footing the bill and I kept several sets after they sold off the Nissans and went to the KiA“

And then he stated “ Sadly the cases flex to much to even make it worth while. The OEM stuff is good, but a billet case is needed to make anything last. I never looked into making one from billet, we welded some gussets in some to test and never got it tested.”

I found the exact gear that he posted on this thread. Its a carbon lined TKO 500-600 synchro gear from synch tech transmissions.

Heres what i was thinking and how to go about getting better synchros. My first option is getting a 370z synchro and having it cyro treated. All the gears/shafts i want to be cyro treated as well. The 300zx looks super close to the 370z trans so i want to order one ring and see if the ring works with the gear set. Obviously the teeth have to match. Also they make a carbon synchro ring for the F51 trans which i will try buying 1 synchro and seeing if that works as well. If all of this doesnt work then ill just stick to the cyro treated option. Its super weird that they dont make any CD009 carbon synchro rings. I will contact sync tech and ask them if they plan on or have any carbon lined synchro rings for the CD009 or JK.

Sorry for the bad news fellas!
Be interesting to see if those synchro’s with a billet input shaft can hold 1000whp. The stock does ok with 900whp.

3rd gear may still grenade. I keep waiting for mine to explode and lose all the teeth. My days are numbered. LOL Reminds me of my 1975 280z turbo. I crapped out three transmission before I finally found a factory 1981-1983 turbo T5 to put in the car. It just shifts like crap. That's why I don't care for a T56 if it shifts the same. I will pass.

Company in Australia taking pre-orders very soon. Uses a t56 input shaft and a bunch of gm parts to build the cd009.

Here you go. Get on the pre order. Ain’t going to get any better than this unless you want a built t56 swap.

Can you or anyone else give a report as to how they are? The high rpm lockout and overall poor shifting on this car has annoyed me to the point I'm willing to drop the money on a transmission rebuild if I can be sure this will actually fix it. I have driven so many manual cars and none of them have been this obnoxious

Kyle had problems when he put them in. I am not sure if it was an install issue or a problem with the Syncros themselves. He was missing shifts and that guy never misses shifts. Not sure what the deal was.
