Chips are pretty much looked down on here. Best bet is to get it dyno tuned with Uprev. No idea on the actual power gains since I haven't gotten that far on mine yet.

Uprev (UpRev - Engine Management) is the company that makes the Osiris software program that is used to tune the ECU on the 370z's. Search the forums for more information.

You wont see a gain like you did on your Turbo (Audi or VW I am assuming). This is more to even out the modifications that you have performed to get the A/F corrected. It is really un needed unless you are going FI or have a lot of breather mods. Probably 10hp max on a stock car.

Correct, tuning this car from factory will not give you much gain. The primary need for tuning is to keep the engine in a safe range (A/F, heat control, etc.) or if you are adding forced induction.

If you wish to increase your power then I would look into HFC/RTP or maybe an exhaust.

once you have some bolt ons an uprev tune is really nice, but like others said it won't give you massive amounts of power like with a factory turbo car stock

nope, especially if you set it to the stock map, if you were super paranoid you could flash it back to stock and then reflash the tune onto the ecu after you went to the dealer.

So can an uprev do actually engine tuning. A friend was saying for his s2k that there are four different Ecus and apparently to actually tune the engine you have to put a new one in because the ecu that tunes the engine isn't bridged. I thought it's a load of bs but I really don't know that much about it honestly. He said the shop told him 370s are the same way, I called bs buy just trying to see if anyone can confirm or deny. Thanks.

1. UpRev sends you a Patch ROM that matches your ECU Part number. ROMs are not interchangeable between ECU. They are specific for ECU Part Number.
UpRev ROM Support Matrix Maybe a little old.

If you use the wrong ROM you can Brick the ECU. Now UpRev can fix it if it gets bricked.

So there is just One ECU for Tunning on the 350/370z. It's located behind the glove-box under the dash.
Uprev support Real Time tunning by relocation the tables that control fuel and timing. You should real read up on it. it's currently the best thing going for us Z people. Check out the guides.
http://www.uprev.com/support.php

I have been using it since 2007. I was one the first to have the Tuner version back then as a beta. Trust me guys, it's leeps and bounds from back then.

Nice info thanks for that. I figured offhand make sense because I've heard of no one changing Ecus to tune. +1
