Oil residue on exhaust tips...

900 mi. so far, and I already notice some oil residue caked to the exhaust tips. I don't recall seeing this phenomenon with my '03 350Z (just some carbon residue).

I've cleaned this sticky residue at least twice in the past month and a half. (Eagle One Non-Wadding Polish)

What gives?!

have any pics ??

I washed my car twice this week because of stupid water sprinklers at work combined with super sunny day. I still have minor water spot damage on my spoiler. Anyhow, I'll give it a couple of weeks for it to build up again. It's right at the tips... carbon build up isn't bad either.

every one gets the carbon stuff, but what you said about it being sticky is weird.

Is your car burning oil.?

Yep, the same thing here as the engine is breaking-in. Simply take an old T-shirt and Goof Off or lighter fluid and wipe the residue off before taking your wash sponge to the exhaust tip.

Same here. I wondered what it was, but that makes sense (the break in).

During break-in this isn't something to be too alarmed about. But it should go away soon.

I had them during my break in period. I was nervous as well. But, everything is fine now.

Thanks guys... I've never seen blue smoke, so I thought it was strange. :-)

LOL... I've seen squirrels crawling underneath cars licking stuff underneath it. :icon14:

Thanks again... I baby this car very much other than a couple of hard, but weaksauce with VDC active launches at 200+ miles against my friend's '08 WRX.

exhaust will turn any exhaust tip black. with my MFC and cat back, i get alot of black soot within a few hundred miles. even more obvious with my stainless tips (stillen). my last car did the same, but it was catless. nothing to worry about. the black dust on the back of the car sucks thought! (white shows it all...)..
