Converting to return fuel system? (turbo)
Hi everyone,
I just traded my roomate for his Twin Turbo 370z (I'm sure many of you are familiar with the car, silver with GTM turbo kit and nismo s-tune ground effects) Anyways... The car fuel cuts hard, especially when cornering, unless you have over a half of a tank. Also, sometimes it seems to bog even in a straight line depending on the manner you give it throttle. I would like to do a return fuel system with a real FPR with vacuum reference line attached. I dont feel comfortable running ~460hp on a returnless fuel system and I would also like to add a surge tank to help with the sloshing. If I convert to a return system, will the car need to be re-tuned? I am assuming that because the stock FPR does not have any manifold pressure/vacuum reference, that by adding this in I will need to tune the ECU accordingly. Any advice is greatly appreciated. :ughdance: |
Yes the car will need to be retuned. I would search for Phunk on the forum... he is working on a surge tank right now. The car should already have uprev, so no big deal.

I'll be building a return fuel system in April if GTM ever gets my VHR fuel rails to me
Watch for pictures and details to follow. |
Please post pictures.. I think for what it is, that kit is a little overpriced.

Why is that kit so damn expensive? I paid less than half of that for the same setup on my Evo. I guess there is sucker markup for owning a 370. |

So if we bought AAM fuel return and later on when GTM release the VHR fuel rails and bought it as well, can we fit them both? Or these fuel system was desinged for stock fuel rails and aftermakret fuel rails might require some custom to make the AAM return fuel system fit?? Sorry for noobish but im just making my self clear.:tiphat: |
Yo no need for a return line. Im at 560 rwhp with no problems. all 370z have that fuel cut while cornering problem I dont think anyone came up with a fix for that.

The hard cornering fuel issue will only be solved by an in-tank system specifically designed to address this, a fuel return wont help you here. The fuel return setup isn't really needed on the 370 until you get up into the 550-600whp range, GTM kits have proven this. You will also run into tuning issues if you attempt to connect the FPR to a vacuum source as VVEL makes for some interesting cruising vacuum numbers.
If you would feel safer adding one, Charles has everything you need: Nissan 370z VHR |
Yea mine cuts sometimes to if it's low

Yeah I know it has alot to do with the fuel level and that a return line in itself wont fix it, but I wanted the return so I could get a fuel surge tank.
But I guess the cheaper fix is to just make sure theres always a full tank of gas. |
