Default Mishimoto intercooler

Hey guy I know this is such a noob question but does your car have to be FI to install or need an intercooler, or can it also be used on n/a cars? Is it just used for FI applications? I saw this and kind of liked the look, said it will look great behind the grill, will I get any benefits if I'm running n/a?

No, intercoolers are strictly for forced induction use and serve no purpose for Naturally Aspirated cars.

uhm...no, it doesn't do sh*t for an N/A car. the intercooler takes the compressed air, which is superhot due to the compression process, and cools it down. you lose pressure and temperature, but typical designs mean the increased density of air at the lowered temperatures make up for the lost pressure

if you're not forced induced and compressing the air, there's no reason to invoke the intercooler and its heat transfer.

Well u could blow 600 on an inter cooler and 400 on a cryO2 sprayer for it and get a horse or two from lower intake temps. But its twin throttle so double that and the added 50lbs just ate 5hp so now ur up to -3hp gain

Front mount air-to-air intercoolers like the one you posted are used to cool the compressed air created by turbos/superchargers. The compressed air gets hot and is more prone to detonation, so the FMIC helps bring temps down to the ambient air temp giving a cooler more dense intake charge.

Depending on your intake, you should be getting near ambient air temperatures on your NA car... no need to cool that
