19 vs 25 vs 34 row oil cooler for daily driver?
I am looking at the Z1 oil coolers and the 34 row unit is $160 more than the 19 row unit and $90 more than the 25 row unit.
I doubt I will be tracking my car any time soon, but on the other hand the weather here in Georgia gets pretty hot. I have not yet driven my car in the blazing summer heat, but right now when it's mildly warm my oil temp gets just a bit over 220. Can any other GA or Southeast owners chime in about which would be best? |

Then my question is, are there any downsides to buying the 34 row just for daily use, and the occasional track day? I need to understand the difference between all these and hurry up and purchase one. I'll be on the highway and it will get up to 220-225degrees

yes the downside is it will take much longer for your oil to get up to the proper operating temp. and when its cold out you'll need a plate to cover the oil cooler.

Thanks. Is this the same if I go with the 25 row? We had a mild winter here in Texas this year. And my oil temps do get to 225 if I'm driving a fair distance, and by taking longer to get to the adequate temperature, do you mean I'll have to let the car warm up longer before driving?

if you let your car warm up in the winters, whatever size cooler you have wont change anything as there is no airflow to cool off the oil anyway, so it would be about the same (only thing here that makes it take longer is that a larger cooler would hold more oil) on a reallly hot day, like we have in Atlanta, the oil heats up really fast... it wouldnt make a diff |

Man.... Too much good information around here, thanks guys. I'll get either the 25 or 34 for sure because last summer was like the second longest streak of 100 degree plus days in Texas on record and I'm sure this year won't be much different after the mild winter

I was going to go with the 34 row just to be safe. I noticed GTM's prices were a bit better than Z1 and was going to order from them. I am glad I called them before ordering because they told me that getting the 34 row would require removal of the air ducts (this is for the Nismo only), so I ended up getting the 25 row instead. |

TX has a lot in common with GA in terms of hot summers. The only difference is the humidity. The 34 row should be fine, just let the car warm up properly. If you want to save a bit, go with the 25 row.
I am going to drive it like *insert witty comment here*, so I am going with the 34 row!

I recommend 24/25 row. I had stillen installed on my driver side n dd just won't go higher than 170 which is right now outside temp around 80-85 if u don't go track a lot then I think u don't need a 30+ and don't bother to go smaller than 19 specially here in tx. I live in tx too. We know how hot is summer here and I expect mine to go up 180-200 when summer. If u don't want to modify anything u might want to go with z1 kit. I bought mine from stillen since I just got the car which is 2010. I just installed it last week (2012) lol!! Too busy!! Lol!!
