The engine is the same. I believe the awd comes from Drivetrain.

But if you could put the 37x drivetrain in the Z you would be certified as a bad a$$

I agree but that would require cutting and other heavy modifications to a relatively new car. Now if you don't care about the value of your car because you are uber-rich then it would be awesome. Still the Z is best enjoyed as rwd and clearly built to excel as such, why would you go with a more fragile awd drivetrain?

Just leave it as it is, or if you're an AWD kind of guy just trade it with some decent Evo and build it.

Turbo Magazine has a feature up this month on a s14 running awd and an RB26. Now that's hot!

I think all of you guys misread what the OP was saying. He was asking whether there will be a problem putting the g37X engine, which is a car with AWD, into the 370z, which is a RWD. He never said he wanted to make the 370z AWD.

The answer to the OP is yes. The engine is the same and should be compatible with 370z's rwd drive train.

Then the question is why? Unless he blew the engine the the 370. There's nothing to gain.

Only the OP can answer that question but reasons that I can think of are:
-salvage repair
-hydrolock
-blown engine
-sending an engine block to be built

OP needs to chime in and give some more details on the project.

Hey thanks for the info and comments! modme thats exactly my 370z has a blown engine and my dad has a 2009 g37x motor with 10,000km on it. It is mine for free if I want it, the idea would be to keep it rear wheel if it is possible the drive train on the 370z will be compatible with g37's engine sorry for the poor details.... if possible I can save a big chunk off money instead off buying a new 370 engine!

Why not sell the g37's motor and use that money to help rebuild the Z's motor??
