Car sitting for 2-3months. Tips before firing engine?
yeah so basically, my Z has been sitting in the garage for around 2-3 months without being started. I was wondering if there were certain MUSTS that I had to do before attempting to start the engine so I don't do any damage and what not.
I tried doing a search on the forums and I did not come up with anything similar to my situation. If there is such a thread, my apologies :tiphat: Thanks in advance for the responses! |
You will be fine mine sat for 6 months and after it fired right up these motors are really strong. Just change the oil and run the gas out. Refill the tank full after so u can get any separated gas out of your car.

Just start it up and go have some fun driving.

We had a family member who was in a bad car wreck. The car (not the wrecked one) sat in a semi heated garage for well over 2 years. The tires lost about 15 psi each and the battery died. Got a new battery installed and the thing fired right up on the 2nd crank. Probably would of fired on the first if I held it longer. It ran a bit rough and set a code. The code never came back after being cleared and the car driven a few hundred miles. Not bad for 2+ year old gas. The car was a mid 90's impala ss (the old body style).

Didn't a mclaren f1 set on fire after it sat in the garage for 6 months and the owner decided to start it?

Floor it before you press start and hold the accelerator down for 10 seconds or so after pressing start, then take your foot off the gas.
