Little "click" on the gas pedal

Pardon my ignorance but I've had my 370Z for a few days only...
When pressing the gas pedal, it acts... as a gas pedal. However when I push it very hard there is a little *click* and I can go a little bit further on the pedal itself. Don't know if that is clear for you, sorry.

If it is, what is the goal of that little *click*. It's like it would engage super-duper power acceleration :icon17: but I don't notice anything fancy.

THanks!

It was probably the end of the pedal travel as far as the electrical position sensor goes, pushing it further isn't going to do anything useful.

Thank you, I think this is actually it since I didn't notice any amazing things happening :-)
BTW, do you have the same thing or is it something not normal?

ChrisSlicks 01-04-2012 04:45 PM

Maybe, I didn't really notice :)

Mine doesn't do that. Was this a used 370? Because the first thought that came to mind was a NOS trigger =) I doubt that though.

No NOS ;-)
Nothing happens when I hit the "limit".

on some cars that little click at the bottom of the gas pedal (on automatics) will have the car downshift into the lowest gear possible for that given speed

Indeed, my mother has that on her automatic VW but my 370 is a manual so that's why I was wondering about this "feature"...

Just tested it on my way to work. No click for me...

Hehe, well if you bought it is used it might be worth a peek. It only takes a minute to take the pedal out, you might actually see what is causing this clicking.

That would have been an awesome idea

Is it maybe just catching on a carpet edge or something near the end of the pedal travel. You feel it catching momentarily as it slips past the obstruction. Crawl under the dash with a flashlight and press the pedal down with your hand to see if you can feel or possibly see what is causing the "click".
