Ester Oil / Mobile1 - Interesting Link

Hey found this today:

Ask Mobil 1 Archive - Ester Oil

I think I'm going to go w/ mobile1 from now - its half price - and i don't track the car, but do occasionally drive spirited

So I figured 5K oil changes and I should be good.

Proof that if you shout at people enough, they'll tell you what you want to hear.

Nothing new here.

But I do use Mobil 1, and I think I will continue to as well.

LunaZ 12-26-2011 11:41 AM

*Excitedly rubs the lubricant on my hands* while exclaiming "God it feels like...Ester!"

LunaZ 12-26-2011 11:59 AM

It rubs the Ester on its skin...

You realize you went to a mobil website to find out information that critically needs to be unbias??? Right????
But hey, to each his own. Good luck when you're driving spirited in summer months. I been there, done that. No thanks mobil 1.

Yes I realize that - but I've also read several other sites. I guess I'll just keep an eye on the oil temp. Do you all use redline?

Some people may say different, but imho, No. The VQ feels smoother and runs cooler with other oils. The cheapest good oil inho is castrol edge. Other than that one. I would go with the more expensive oils for a cooler smoother running engine. I'm sure you can get away with mobil 1 if you don't care about keeping your engine running strong over 150,000 miles? But that's up to you.

Many others seem to use M1 in their Z. And ya - its my daily driver so looking to get <75k out of it before selling / trading.
