Battery Life / Boost
Hi I think I might have left the radio or something on in my 1yr. old Z w/ 6K miles on it. When I boosted the battery the service engine light came on.. and its been on for about 20 miles. Should I take the car into service? Or is this normal and the light will reset itself?
Thanks, |
There might be a different reason your battery died. I can't think of a scenario where you would have left your radio on without the car being on...and the headlights shut themselves off.. So what else could be the reason? Well it might be something more serious so don't drive anywhere you don't have to. Someone you know migh have a OBD-II reader device which could tell you what is wrong. If nobody you know has one of those, chain store auto parts places could probably tell you for free when they open on Monday (or Sunday?).

CarMD.. pretty much the same thing as an OBD-II reader. It'll cost ya about $100.

Thanks guys - well its under warranty so I might just take it into Nissan. I also wanted them to check out the clutch - 1st and 2nd gear just seems really rough compared to other Zs I've driven.
Thanks again - :tiphat: |

Hey - So the dealer took a while to diagnose. They said the previous owner had complained about the battery as well - but he garaged the car so they thought that was the problem... for me since it was not the first complaint, they replaced the battery (OEM 500ish CCA) with a bigger battery 700ish CCA. I am not sure if it was me leaving the radio on infrequent driving or a dud battery... but we'll see.. if it happens again I'd be really surprised.
Thanks all - |
