What are these?
I'm sure this will be answered quickly but I did not want to jack somebody elses thread... what are the lines that I see running from the coolant overflow tank to the engine?. Here's a couple of pics of what I am talking about, not the thin white hoses, the big SS lines
Also does anybody know if that CF manifold cover is just a cover or an actual manifold? I tried searching for it but did not find anything. I guess its a one off GReddy made? Thanks guys

There's all kinds of things going on in that bay. If that is a manifold sign me up. I wouldn't care if that's a cover. Anything looks better than that crap we have.

I'm pretty sure thats a greddy TT on that car, so it could be anything. Don't know if they use water cooling or not, but thats one possibility.

Did a quick google search and the cover is a one off GReddy made for their TT 350.

Yeah its a GReddy TT kit. I am wondering where the lines are going to/coming from.

What's pointless, an oil catch can?

He might of meant having a coolant can and catch can in one is pointless. But phunk knows his stuff if he was referring to a oil catch can.

i was just referring to an oil catch can, not the fact that they appear to be combined.
oil catch cans really dont do anything, especially in the typical configuration that 99% of them are constructed. most of them are just plain tanks plumbed inline to the existing PCV system, and many people end up plumbing them in a way that is going to make the PCV system disfunctional. the majority of the oil in the PCV system is in a vapor form. That is how it is able to leave the baffled valvecovers to begin with. the catch tank will remove minimal oil from the PCV system... its really just a function of the surface area inside of it happening to catch some. If the goal is to take oil out of the PCV because you dont like it coming back into the intake, then a catch tank is a failboat. You need a real seperator in there to catch the oil. But really, I dont see the point in all that drama and mess in the engine bay. A ton of oil through the PCV system isnt helpful, but if youre having issues with that in the VQ then your problems are probably much deeper rooted.

If those are indeed catch can lines, it's not pointless at all. It looks like the PCV system was eliminated in favor of an additional vent line. When vented to atmosphere, the more crankcase ventilation the better, especially when boosting.
I was thinking a coolant swirl pot of sorts, but then I'd have no idea where those lines are running.
