Royal Purple for....
$6.99 a quart at Advance Autoparts!!!
I just got finished with my first oil change at 1620 miles, and asked that they use Nissan Ester Oil, which they did for $59.99. Afterwards I stopped at an Advance Autoparts store to see if they had any DEI radiator adder, they carry the brand, but not any of the fluids. While talking to the guy he said you'd be better off buying a good synthetic oil like Mobil 1 or Royal Purple, and Royal Purple is on sale for 6.99 a qt. I was like "NO SH!T?" So i bought 6 quarts even though I had literally just got done with an oil change. Saving it for my 3750 change. Check your local stores!

You might want to take it back. RP has never had good lab results on the VQ and other cars from Welcome and now this happened. If you want a good oil, get Penzoil Plat for $20 bucks at Walmart 5 quart jug. It has shown the best results out of them all right now for wear, etc.
Truth in Advertising: BP v. Royal Purple

I have sent an email to Amsoil asking about esters, so hopefully I will have a response by tomorrow.

Does it concern anyone that Royal Purple is not API certified? And that it's API Service is SL in lieu of SM? I'm starting to lean towards AMSOIL. Lucky for me I have 3750 miles to think about it.

I hear the same argument all the time when it comes to Royal Purple oil.
I have enriched the last 3 engines with this product, one of which was a Turbo engine, with fantastic results. I just completed my first oil change on my Z and with complete confidence, leaned on one of the best lubricants in the business to handle the high OIL temps and high rev'ng motor that this vehicle has blessed me with. Royal Purple 5 W 30 in this Z.

on the bottom it says "Royal Purple Meets or exceeds API Service SL warrenty requirements for the gasoline engines. it also meets GM4718m Gasoline engine and oil performance and fuel economy specifications." Im still seriously thinking about useing royal purple. |

Nissan Says: "Select only engine oils that meet the American Petroleum Institute (API) certification or ....
The certification mark is with the star emblem (not found on RP). Also they're example for the API Service has SM (not SL like RP). All this may be moot, but I'm just curious of other's opinions.

I know that Cosworth has tested royal purple and found it to be one of the best oils, but that was over 12 years ago. Mobil One 0w40 only is a very good oil. The 0w40 is better than the other grades and is the factory fill for the GT-R.

Is the Royal Purple Oil Filter a good choice for our cars?
