Default Key indicator light is on and car won't start

So I drove to a Walmart and after I finished shopping, I got in the car to leave but it refuses to start. I tried putting the key fob in the hole but it only recognized the key and when I click start, the key indicator light comes on and the car does nothing.

Has anyone experienced this before? Currently stuck at Walmart at this late hour in a bad neighborhood =\

Double check foot solidly on brake and switch held down long enough. There has been problems with the car recognizing the key. I think the quick fix was to disconnect the battery for 10 minutes and then try again but not sure about that. Hopefully someone who knows will chime in. Good luck

or the battery in the fob is weak? I would try the spare remote and see if that works

It should be, if you are under warranty still.

The same thing happened to my 2010 Z at Walmart this afternoon. Extra key didn't work so called the dealer and having it towed in morning. Not too excited about leaving it in lot overnight but no other choice. It only has 7200 miles on it so hope this doesn't become a problem or it will be sold.

Could be fob battery or steering lock (ESCL). Both have been discussed a lot on this site. A few other possibilities but those are the most common ones. Search is your friend.
