Clutch Decisions for Track

I personally wouldnt go with a 6 puck because of the work required from your leg. I think it would be more suited for drag racing BUT....its up to you

I wish OS Giken wasnt so expensive because there touring clutch would be great for you.

A forum buddy here who currently running this setup said its not all that bad. But this doesn't bother me. It's actually what I'm looking for. I just would feel better if it was more aggressive than stock feel. It's a preference thing.

Puck style clutches really do not have anything to do with how stiff the pedal is, The pedal effort comes from the pressure plate, clamp load of it and how well it is designed. You can still have good clamping load without having a "Uncomfortable" pedal effort.

The standard built South Bend clutches do not have real stiff pedals even in the SS or Stage 3 lines, We can have them built that way (lots of clamp load and stiff pedals) but South Bend likes to retain a softer pedal whenever possible. The clutch will simply work better with a softer pressure plate and cause less damage/strain on the rest of the clutch system, engine thrust bearings ect.

The stage 3 kits have aprox. 2700lbs of clamp load, retain a modest bearing load and IMO and very good feel at the pedal.

Unless you are drag racing there is no need for a puck style clutch and I would recommend against it for street use.
