I know this seems like a dumb question, but have you checked for radiator obstructions? You might have picked up some paper or plastic stuck on the front surface of the radiator blocking airflow or something.

230-240 sounds high for highway cruising (6th gear, 55mph+), but it's not a dangerous temperature either. As others said, switching to a better oil and/or putting some more miles on the car might cure it.

Royal purple is best to use while out of warranty. It has properties that nissan oem doesn't approve of while under warranty.
Changing the oil in your diff. won't void your warranty. In fact is is a good idea because it's full of metal shavings. Check out some of the related threads on this. Also Redline 75W90 GL-5 gear oil is a full syn while the stock diiff. oil is not.

Use a high performance air filter like k&n. You will see temps reduce somehere between 10-20 degrees depending on the day.
If you are still in unacceptable temps? Then the next route is oil cooler. But remember that these cars run a little hotter than other cars. For many that are used to 190-215 as a regular running temp in warm weather will feel nervous with the Z unnecesarily. The Z at its normal driving temps will hit 220. When driving hard it will go to 250. If you are beyond this??? Then I would consider going oil cooler.
But better oil and filter should be fine.
I seriuosly doubt that changing from PU to a different synthetic oil and adding a K&N filter is going to lower your temps. 10 to 20 degrees. Check out Bobtheoilguy.com for some good reading. Outside temps and engine load will effect your temps the most.

what?! no the "differential" oil NEEDS to be replaced at around 20-30k miles. it will not void the warranty. heck the dealership changed mine when i had some work done.

I think he means "change to another brand," but either way, will not void warranty, and a very good idea

Yes I meant change from OEM oil. I'll be contacting Nissan to check this out and will get back with a definite answer.

If temps don't drop a bit from redline + k&n filter I'm going to check all pumps and hoses as well as the temp sensor. Next thing would be going with a Z1 or stillen cooler.
Thanks for the help guys!

230-240 is not so bad during our 95 degree hot days. You're not gonna get limp mode unless you went to the mounties and grape vine

2009 - 2011 models DO NOT have an oil cooler. ^_^;;
the day you wrote this I only saw 185 and thats with my cooler. I work at beach and bolsa and it wasn't that bad. Do you have a cooler?

You won't notice temp differences with a different brand oil being that it is the same weight oil. If you drop to 0-40 you should notice a slight difference. Best bet is to get a z1 kit with the thermo adapter. Go with the smaller core size. I have a 34 row and put a full plate on mine with 1/4 in drilled holes and finally have a even temp line of 180-195 highway driving. Just a fyi.

230 t0 240 ia too high for cruiseing speeds, unless it was 95 + degrees outside
