Given the evidence at hand for our cars, I'd say whether dropping one in is a good idea really depends on your situation. As a general guideline: if you have plans to go Forced Induction it's probably best to not mess with the pulley (SC pulley size needs adjusting, and SC/TC both are adding a lot of stress and doubt to the harmonics arguments, and at that power range the benefits get even more marginal), and if you want your mods to be easily removable it's probably best to not mess with the pulley either (the Al ones slowly weld onto the crankshaft). Enough of them have been (correctly installed) on NA engines for plenty of hard miles without incident though. If they were causing any serious mechanical balancing issues, we'd have seen destroyed crankshaft bearings by now.

what he said...its like driving a car with unbalanced wheels; it'll run but in time it'll ruin your suspension parts as well.

bulls eye, I totally agree.

Dont talk if you dont know what your talking about

Changing ur crankshaft pulley to a 6069 aerospace grade billet aluminum over the shock heavy cast steel one is worth the effort. Do you professionally tune cars using uprev osiris? Oh you dont? Then how would u know if u needed a tune for your pulley? Thanks for playing. No, you do not need a tune for a pulley. It is not affecting a/f ratio n it is not changing the load on the motor. Its just spinning faster. And yes, it may be "3-5hp, not worth the effort" (actually i dynod n found a gain of 6hp 4trq to the wheels) well lemme tell you something. All the mods ive done to add "3-5hp" adds up quick, real quick. I dont forum hunt nor do i roast forum dbags, but all you "i know everything" kids on here are the reason why nobody does pulleys, intake manifolds, headers. I have to put a stop to this, your all fools.
Theres a reason why my cars the faster n/a vhr in Boston n why most guys struggle to hit 300hp with full bolts ons. :gtfo2:

They're all fools, but you're the one responding to a thread that's been dead since 2011.

Lol

I think a quality pulley is def worth it.

No one does these mods because these cars don't make power. Cost vs reward isn't worth it. Anyone that spends thousands to make 20whp is a fool.

I had an aluminum underdrive pulley, but it was just a side effect of having an ati damper and drysump drive on there too.

Edit: also worthy to note it did have a steel hub since ati said that the aluminum hubs shear off at high rpm
