Oil has got to be the most important thing to your engine, I bet alot of engines could have been saved if people checked there oil more often. And unless you have no ability at all to change your oil yourself stay as far away from the dealer as you can.
You don't get an accurate reading if you check every time you get gas, unless you are letting the car sit there for a good 10 minutes or so before checking.

I think every time you gas up is a little excessive (of course I fill up once a week), but once every couple of weeks is always a good idea.

Yes it is excessive. And yes your reading will be inaccurate unless you sit at the gas station for 15 mins to let the oil settle to the pan. Do that where im from and the cops will be watching you real close. Lol FYI, I do check my oil levels around every 500 miles. Don't be so quick to assume everyone but one's self is a dumbarse, you never know whos behind the keyboard. The knocking came on suddenly without notice and the first thing I did was check the oil....so gggrrrrrrr! Haha. I'm going to watch every oil change from now on.
