Just recently busted my differential bushing. Taking it to Nissan tomorrow. Just this past Friday I had them look at them b/c I was explaining wheel hop problems and they checked out okay but the next day at the track ya it busted so they want to look at my car before ordering the parts.

esfourteen 03-11-2012 09:36 PM

just wanted to give others a heads up, I spoke to whiteline and they are expecting to release the differential bushing kit for the 370z around mid year. I suspect the front bushings are the same but the rear mount in the subframe will be different.

V8Killer 03-12-2012 09:46 AM

Thanks for the update esfourteen, I take my car to the dealership in a couple hours. I wanted to know if anybody has a suggestion for something to help with wheel hop until whiteline comes out with their bushings? Sway bars maybe?

esfourteen 03-12-2012 10:42 AM

I'm considering filling the mount with 3m window weld if possible, i'll find out how much space there is if any once I swap my diff.

edit: actually just going back and looking at the pic the OP posted, it doesn't look like there room to add any window weld to, hopefully mine holds up until the whiteline comes out.

I'm at the dealership now and the manager is being a douche, they may not replace it under warranty due to neglect or abuse.

V8Killer 03-12-2012 12:51 PM

Has anyone put on the 370z differential bushings yet? I have them but I wasn't going to install after reading this review.

corbin09 03-12-2012 01:03 PM

If you dont install, PM me and I will take them off your hands :)

I'll let you know. I have them up for sale but now I may use them depending on what Nissan tells me.

yeah unfortunately they can **** you with this "abuse" angle if they want. doesn't matter that its a sports car, they are meant to be driven hard according to nissan. who designs a subframe with a non-serviceable weakass diff bushing anyway?

All right I just got back from the dealership. They will be replacing the whole sub frame under warranty but there is a catch. If it breaks again they will probably not replace it and file it under abuse. If I decide to give them my aluminum bushings that I have they will install them but that will automatically void my warranty on that part as well as power trans. which I don't know why it would. I don't want to push the issue b/c they are doing under warranty and they do know all the parts I have. Has anybody installed these SPL aluminum bushings made for the 370z on our cars? I tempted to just say screw it b/c well they won't fix it if it breaks again anyway.

i wouldn't run a solid diff bushing in a street car, but thats just my opinion. They do seem to want to void your warranty if you run it though, I'd have them replace the sub frame. When it breaks again take it to a shop and have them install the whiteline bushing which will be out by then.

V8Killer 03-12-2012 03:38 PM

esfourteen. You wouldn't happen to know the pro's and con's of doing this mod with what I have do you?

I assume you have the solid mounts, they will transfer a lot more noise and vibration to the car and because of our hatch you will hear a lot of it. It will help reduce wheel hop, but the subframe itself is still mounted to your chassis with rubber bushings so I suspect it wont be entirely gone.

My last project car was a 97 240sx, I replaced the diff bushings and subframe bushings with nismo rubber bushings, they are basically this super hard rubber. It resulted in 0 wheel hop and virtually no additional noise. Since they aren't available for our car, I plan on doing the whiteline diff bushings and hopefully someone comes out with something for our subframe.

V8Killer 03-12-2012 04:02 PM

Thanks for the input, I will just go ahead and sell the ones I have. +1

tranceformer 03-12-2012 05:23 PM

I'd wait for the whiteline bushings. That's my 2 cents.

red6spd 03-12-2012 05:49 PM

In for updates. Knock on wood I dont have this problem but it might be a good idea to have the bushings ready just incase.

I'm going to try the Energy Suspension 350Z rear differential carrier bushings (part number 7.1119) at the end of the year. SPL told me in an e-mail the 370Zs rear subframe bushing is slightly smaller than the 350Zs "by a couple of thousandths". The two front mounts are the same diameter of course since they both have a R200 housing.

good find, I didn't even think to check ES. This should work as the polyurethane is somewhat pliable and the difference shouldn't be enough to interfere with installing it. The real problem is removing the factory bushing from the subframe, I've only done this once on a 240sx and it was a nightmare.

MaDMaXX 03-13-2012 12:51 PM

So, is there anything even close to the stock/rubber bushing that we can use? (personally talking about the 350z)

Mine has that streak down it since i bought it and i have experienced some really nasty wheel hop at times.

It's a DD so i don't want anything solid, but i'd like to think there would be something like the Nismo extra hard rubber bushing available for it?

Personally I would grab the set of energy suspension poly bushings, its really not harsh at all for a street car.

Does anyone have any reviews of the energy suspension bushing, or the whiteline bushing?

I'd love to know how the NVH compares to stock, it's amazing no one really seems to have reviews/guides/impressions posted. It's also amazing how many people have a blow bushing :(

I am sure there are reviews of the bushings on the 350z forums, you are better off checking there.

MaDMaXX 03-13-2012 09:49 PM

I'm sorry, i meant there, but still, has anyone replaced them here and not gone for the solid bushings?

jaggon13 04-27-2012 04:16 PM

I know its a little late but maybe this will help someone. I've got an 04 350z and my diff bushing crapped out. I put in spl solid bushings and I didn't notice any unusual noise or roughness in the ride. I have stock gears so maybe that makes a difference. My friend just got a 10 370z, completely stock down to the wheels, and when he tried to launch it on the street it had wheel hop. Strange for a 2 year old car. he's going to order the spl bushings and were going to put them in. When I put mine in, the rear bush wash a beotch to get out. I tried the "install tool" supplied with the bushings and it did nothing. I read you could use a hacksaw blade and cut the bushing from the inside out but it did nothing. I also read you could take the subframe off and take it to get the bushing removed but there was no way in h*ll I was going to do that. I got a friend of mine to cut a piece of 3" pipe approximately 3" long and got another friend to weld an about 1/4" thick plate on one side and drill a hole though the center of the plate. I got some all thread, nuts, and washes from home depot and went to work. I put the open end of the pipe on the rear side of the bushing and the "install tool" on the front side. All thread through the center with washes and nuts an both sides. I used a socket wrench and a breaker bar to turn the nut on the rear (pipe side). It was slow going at first because I had the car on ramps and there was not much room underneath for the breaker bar but once the bushing was a little more than halfway it got easier. I kicked myself in the *ss for not thinking of it sooner. To get the solid bush in I just lined it up on the front side and used the "install tool" and a hammer and it went in pretty easy. I also had the solid bushings in the freezer for a day and a half. If I knew how to use a computer for anything but porn I would have posted pics of my "extraction tool" but alas, I don't. I hope this helps someone.

MaDMaXX 04-27-2012 09:55 PM

That makes me happier about getting the whitelines or similar, i really don't need solid, just non leaking would be good.

Lame

Zat_Zuma 07-26-2012 11:40 AM

Worked great

MaDMaXX 07-26-2012 07:45 PM

Thought i'd give feedback on the whiteline bushings, very solid feeling, no more wheel hop, at all, much more stable feeling round corners :)

KaienZ34 07-26-2012 07:57 PM

What was the price on them?

MaDMaXX 07-26-2012 08:09 PM

Just just over $100 shipped, but confirm for the 370 as mine were for the 350, i do not recall if they're the same or not.

KaienZ34 07-26-2012 08:39 PM

I hear ya, thank's for the info...

vqloven 07-27-2012 11:40 PM

Ok, so I'm 12 and what is this

How can you tell when you actually destroyed the bushing?

You will see your diff covered in black fluid when you pop it like a pimple....on the flip side spl's solid 370z/g mounts are now up on their website.

vqloven 07-29-2012 06:37 PM

Damn, another thing to keep an eye out for...

Honestly I think most people wouldn't even notice it until it's on the rack or if they crawl under the rear of the car.

fuct 07-31-2012 11:47 AM

a quick glance at the back side of your pumpkin will tell you. the black nasty bushing filler stands out against the shiny dif cover.

L33T Z34 09-21-2012 05:58 AM

I recently received the solid CNC ALUMINUM rear diff bushings from SPL - $161 shipped. I decided against the ES bushings after reading on my350Z about what POS they were. I’m installing the SPL bushings on 29 SEP while I got my rear diff out for a 4.36 final drive modification.

Took me about two hours hacksawing and chiseling out teh beeotch, but it finally gave! What a PITA it was. Getting sprayed w/liquid silicone just made the experience all the better!
:icon18:
Picked up my rear diff w/the 4.36 ring n pinion this past WED. Installed the SPL solid diff bushings on 4 NOV. Had to make two special tools to pull it through the subframe. 1/4" plate steel w/a 1/2" hole drilled through it so a grade 8 bolt in the lengths of 7.5" and 4.5" could be welded to it. Used grade 8 nuts and washers. Pressed it into the subframe easily w/a 2', 1/2" drive breaker bar.

jpritche 10-12-2012 11:05 AM

I have a set of SPL bushings for the 370.. If anyone needs them let me know. They are just out on the market so obviously brand new. It'll be a smoking hot deal too!!
