I did a stupid thing
Put regular gas in tank then read the car takes premium. Did I screw myself?
|
Quick answer is no. Just make sure that you drive it very "gently" until you can get some higher octane fuel in it otherwise you'll get knocking which isn't good for the motor.
|
No, you won't hurt it. The Z requires higher octane for optimum performance using lower octane gas is only going to affect it
slightly but not enough to hurt anything. I suggest just running up to a half a tank and top it off with prem. Moved to the right section |
^^^ Yep.
No racing or dyno runs until refilled with 91 AKI or higher... drive it like a grocery getter until ready to refill. Otherwise, no harm done. |
In India we only get 91 with added stuff to make it better !! Is that ok too for daily use ?
97 is only available in the big towns and I am no where near one !! |
would an octane booster help in this situation?

The best thing to do is to keep the revs low and fill up with premium as soon as you can. |
Here in California, 91 is premium. Fine on 11:1 compression ratio but I'd want it higher if I got that VW Toureg with 12:1 compression. What a bunch of idiots those VW people are...
Hot weather and high RPMs is where you want to stay away from for knocking. If you hear it, let off the gas, it'll be worse if you have your foot into it |
I filled him up with 93 super premium and the Z runs much better. Thanks all!

If RON, then it's equivalent to "regular" gas (87 AKI), not "premium" (96 RON/91 AKI), and it is not high enough an octane for regular use in the Z. |
