Default Automatic Car Starter on a Manual

Hey guys! I just got my car starter on my manual and I love it!...He put a hidden on/off switch on there to where if I'm taking my car to a body shop I can turn the switch to off. So if the mechanic leaves the car in 1st and accidentally presses the auto starts it wont even start! But i just got to remember to turn that switch everytime i leave it with someone. Thought I would share my expierence. Just in time for the winter!

Last time I dealt with that, my cousin stuffed the car into a parked lexus with one touch of a button

My friend started his and it drove off a ledge.

A proper install should only start if you are in neutral.

I guess if you're meticulous and always leave your car in neutral you wouldn't have a problem. Still the story of the black mustang flying into a lake causes me to take caution although most horror stories are the result of stupid people not faulty auto starts.

Forget the gear issue, I am more concerned about someone being able to drive away with the car. Everything I have read leaves me to believe that the smart key anti-theft will be deactivated to start our cars.

The keyed cars obviously have the brake pedal bypass but since we have no "key" we have no way to utilize that (unless something new came out).

The reason i own a z now is because my supra went threw a body shop storefront after a remote start. Granted I had no switch or neutral check in place. Wish I did..... But i' ll never put a remote start on a manual car again, no matter how many safety checks there are... Way to traumatic to watch a supra take off into a building!

Most people that leave the cars in gear dont use the parking brake... that is why they leave them in gear.

I always do! but the owner of the body shop who moved my car, left the car in 1st, and did not set the parking break....even tho he knew i had a remote start. He should have set the parking break, and i should have never assumed it wasn't in gear since i did not drive it last. Lesson Learned!!! More then $10 grand in damages just to the car. Took the repair money, sold the damaged car to the body shop, and put a down payment on the Z
