Disagree because then the point would be moot... with the pb on and the car in gear you are not going anywhere even if you remote start it. The car would stall and maybe lurch a bit but wouldn't move. And on the hill point, no I wouldn't just leave it in gear but I don't ever leave it in gear.

Tie the neutral sensor off the transmission into a relay to prevent any accidents. The switch is nice but sooner or later someone will forget.

Isn't it considering proper parking technique with a standard to leave it in gear?

Yes. It is the failsafe if the e-brake should fail, i.e. e.g. parked on a hill.

It's also proper technique to use the e-brake on a auto when parked but few actually do

Lol! I tried explains this to my gf. "Why do the emergency brake if u can just leave it in park?" Besides the fact that's it's put there for a reason I asked her if she parked on a hill or a curb and had 2 use two hands to move the shifter out of parked followed by a loud bang? Yea that's why u use the emergency brake.

Yep. People aren't really aware that their "transmission park" lock is just a little pin. You are holding 4000lbs of steel with a 1/2 inch steel pin! They can and do fail especially if you let the car roll on a hill after letting off the brake to let the transmission take the load. Fortunately they are pretty strong given their small size.
