New issue
WithIn the past week i noticed something strange with my clutch. Starting off, and city driving was fine. But i would get on the highway and not need to shift for miles. I went to downshift and slow down, pushed in on the clutch...... And almost all tge way to the floor it had zero resistance, and i mean u could have pushed it with a babies pinky finger. And as well as this every now and again even when it was acting fine it would randomly not come up from tye floor.
Upon further investigation i noticed the clutch fluid (which is lazily dot 3 brake fluid) res was almost empty!!!! So i filled it and made a bee line for nissan, i explained my issue and have lost a lot of faith in there mechs. One wanted to blame the pressure plate, and another wanted to blame a chiped tooth on the flywheel or a messed up throw out bearing. Now correct me if im wrong, but these are hyd operated clutches "hense the fluid". Now if the issue is random, which it is, its probably not mechanical in nature. And they gave me the impression that they didnt even think about tye fact that the fluid has to go SOMEWHERE..... Its not just going to dissapear. Personally i believe its the slave cylinder thats going bad, and thats where the leak is, or in the line somewhere. Im 99% sure air got in it so even filling it wont change anything. Anyone second this opinion before nissan tries to rip the whole transmission appart like ******* retards and wastes weeks of my time? Also wanted o put this out tyere as a possible part to keep an eye on, as my car has 12k miles and is not abused. Any knowledge on the subject is welcome. |

Unless it is something silly like the clutch bleed valve being cracked open, it sounds like a failing CSC. If the fluid is gone, then that is where it went.

So, im glad im not the only one that thinks its the slave cylinder. That being said, please tell me the csc on this car is external to the transmission...... Or at the very least that they have a peep plate to work on it..... I really really dont want to let nissan open up the tranny after listening to there assinine diag. Of the problem. This isnt my first runin whith there questionable knowledge of there OWN cars. To be honest i would rather void my warentee and do it myself then let the tards touch it.

It is internal.
Step 1 of CSC replacement is separate transmission assembly from the engine. After that the replacement is fairly straightforward. It is covered starting on page 16 of the Clutch chapter of the service manual.

The stock CSC sucks, moreover although it is covered under warranty they are going to replace it with an equally crappy OEM one that is likely on backorder!

Joe@Zspeed (sponsor) has a replacement CSC if you're looking for better-than-stock.

heres the problem. the dealer WILL cover replacing the CSC if after they inspect the clutch for wear they find it to look normal and not abused. if they feel the clutch is too worn then then the CSC isnt covered. kinda crummy. especialy since they make you cover the inspection and tranny drop which is $400. you can see where they wrote they inspected the clucth for wear.....

If this ever happens to me and it's still under warranty I'm still going to replace the CSC and clutch myself. Why take the chance of possibly paying them. Especially knowing I beat up on it.

It's not the slave cylinder. I just had this exact same problem except that my clutch fluid didn't drain out. They first swapped out the slave cylinder and that fix worked for about 50 miles. I took it to another dealer and they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it so they just flushed the clutch fluid. That worked for another 50 miles. Took it back to the original dealer and they replaced the master cylinder and it works now but it doesn't feel right. The clutch doesn't engage until the clutch pedal is returned almost until the initial position which feels like the clutch friction surface it worn out and the dealer is looking at it right now. Everything so far has been covered under warranty and if they try to tell me that this next part is not I'm not going to pay it.
I've had this car for 25,000 miles, and am on my second transmission, my second clutch, and I can feel the same problem that required the new transmission is starting again. Not very impressed with the quality of this car. |

Hmmmm, i will mention that to them antares13. But as an update on the situation. I took it in and as i feared they called back later the same day with exactly tye words i didnt want to hear "the mechanic couldnt find a single leak"
Everyone knows it was leaking, we even had to fill it AT nissan and it was the same mechanic!!!!!!. So they did the most asinine thing they could. They told me that nissan wants me to drive the car around and document how much its leaking. So they want to chance further damage just to proove the already prooven. Its been 4 days since then and i took it on another trip to PA "1000 miles round trip or so". And for some reason its not leaking at all......... BUT all the other problems are still present. Clutch is normal starting out and every time i turn the car off for more then 5 minutes. But as soon as i get on the highway and ive been in 6th gear for about 40 miles and slow down and downshift there is almost NO clutch. U can literaly reach down and push it with one finger, on the Way to PA it stuck to tge floor TWICE. This worries me because they said tye mechanic couldnt replicate the issue..... Im also really pissed because i went in with almost a half a tank of gas, and when i picked it up it had less then a quarter tank..... That normaly would not have bothered me, but i took the time to check the milage before i left and they had only put 12 miles on it...... Now would someone with a damn brain tell me what that means???? IT MEANS THE MECH BEAT THE PISS OUT OF MY CAR. How else could you waste a quarter tank in 12 miles?? This is the worst service ive ever seen in my life, not only did they "conveniently fix" the leak right before a forced documentation trial run so they wont have to fix the car, they obviously lied how the mech couldnt replicate the issue since it happens every time i drive it w/o fail. And they abussed the car. I just wish i could have had a camera in the car or something so i could catch the little bitch messing around in my car, how it is i cant even say anything...... I just have to sit back and watch the as5 fuck1ng unfold. If anyone can help, or know what i should do please tell me. Im paying them for a service, i bought a product from them via contract that i KNOW doesnt cost them 40k to produce, a contract which states a 3 year warentee which i also paid for inadvertantly. So why is it that every time something in there product breaks do they try every possible thing to avoid responsibility? What an underhanded company, this will be the last nissan i ever own. As well as anyone i ever talk to in life about nissan that might consider buying one. After its fixed "assuming nissan even fixes it" the car is up for sale. Im going to make it as difficult and costly as i can for nissan and im going to sell it. |

There is no way they could have burnt a 1/4 in 12 miles... more likely they let it sit for a long time running... a 1/4 of a tank should be around 50+ miles so even if you cut that in half for beating it that is still 25+.
Regardless if you have any issue at all that is present they should be correcting (obviously). |
