Stock 370Z Dyno result??

I recommend 4th. Less wear on the motor. Also, hasn't it been up over 100* F in Texas? That will cost you some ponies even with a generous correction factor.

You do it in 5th gear because of the 1:1 ratio. That's the one that will give you direct engine power.

Probably not... in all honesty, my first dyno was in 3rd gear and I was told because that was the 'power gear'. I never laughed so hard on the way home...

I hope this fits in with the thread. How about dynoing a 7AT? What's the proper procedure and gear to get the most accurate numbers? I'm probably doing my baseline next week. Thanks.

Same as a MT, 5th gear.

That is true, but you'll get the same info with less stress on the motor in 4th. 5th gear has less grunt than 4th, so the motor is doing more of the work. On dynojets, 5th gear dynos read about 1% higher than 4th, but otherwise, it will work fine.

On an untuned 7AT, it will hit the limiter in 5th, so they have to dyno in 4th.

True, but I did mine on a Mustang Dyno and my numbers were nowhere where they should be. I need to get mine tuned already so I can do a 5th gear dyno. And as for less grunt, you want that. You wanna see exactly what the motor is putting out, not what the tranny's helping you get to the ground.

This is what HP Logic did for my UpRev tune. I did 298whp in 95deg and 75% humidity on a Mustang Dyno in 4th gear, which should be 320-330whp on a Dynojet according to the consensus.

You can't really go by that tho'... not all Mustang's read significantly lower than dynojets -- it just depends on the settings, and they may vary from car to car.

Only way to know for sure what you'd put down on a dynojet is to dyno on one.

I know, thats why I said "should be". Typically we all know Mustang Dyno's to be "heart breakers" but there are some here and there that run the same or higher than Dynojets on very rare occasions. I'm just going by the majority of this forum's experience on Mustang Dynos and also Jack at HP Logic said it would be significantly higher on a Dynojet because he knows his dyno reads a bit lower.
