Default Gas Question....

Ok guys I have a Nismo 370z and I use nothing but 93 octane like it is recommending. However, I ran by a Sunoco here in Peachtree City, GA and ran across Sunoco 260 GT100 gas. To my understanding its 100 octane and i guess its a race gas...I do have an Osiris UpRev tune but to my knowledge with my current full bolton mods it was done with 93 octane in tank. If i use this gas will i need a tune for it to see power or will i see power regardless? Im not up on my gas knowledge so can someone help.

Last question is if I tune my car for a certian race gas can i still use 93 octane or will my car run like crap then?

Any help will be helpful thanks!

Higher octane fuel is all about deterring preignition due to compression. If you don't tune for 100 octane, you will see no benefit unless your motor is already seeing knock on 93 octane and 100 octane eliminates it. The other way is more dangerous. If you tune for 100 octane, you risk engine damage using 93 without a retune.

Not worth it in the slightest... I know someone with a GTR that uses 100 because he had his car tuned for it... even if you did I would bet the benefits would be very minimal and the price substantial.

Side note, this is why the UpRev maps are awesome... you could have a 100 octane map and a 91/93 octane one... the problem is that requires two different tunes, each with the other type of gas (or just a stock map built in which they all have).

ah so it is possible to have more than one tune on an ecu? like it will know when i put the "race gas" in and use that tune and vice versa for 93?

I'm not too familiar with UpRev tunes, but I do believe they can store more than one tune and you switch using the steering wheel controls.

You could have a race gas tune. You can cycle between uprev tunes using the cruise control.
