Cracked flywheel, wow! I'm glad to hear that they didn't blame the flywheel damage on your lightweight crank pulley. Since the after market pulley doesn't include a harmonic vibration damper like the OEM pulley I would expect them to say that undamped crankshaft vibrations caused the flywheel to fracture.

Update !!!!
I got back from an military exercise in Wainwright (Alberta , Canada) a week ago! So on last Saturday I went to the dealership to get the Z back ! the complete repair list was principally the flywheel which was badly cracked and the blown transmission. The service guy called my at home while I was away on exercise and told my GF to take it easy on the new tranny for at least till next year !! and told her no more track time for this year ! 2 days ago I went for a ride after about 800kms done on it and decided to datalog to see if by miracle my IGN Timing problem would be changed. The first pull on the 4th gear up to redline , I saw the timing going where it was suppose to be around 29+- 1 I was surprised and decided to do one on the 5th gear up to 7300rpm still the same thing !! I hit 29 which was perfect ! and then yesterday I decided to do it again just to make sure of the result that I had the previous day! I'm very pleased that the knock sensor are now happy ! it was probably due to the cracked flywheel making too much noise which I couldn't hear or see the difference with the headphone knock listening device (Uprev) 0-100mph is now .5sec faster before sending the Z to the dealership I removed all of intake system & removed Uprev incase they wouldn't like to see the car fully modded ! so I'm even more surprised ! today I'm going to datalog with my custom CAI and restart the tune (Uprev tuner) Last edited by Megan370z; 11-05-2011 at 10:46 AM. |

UPDATE !!
today is when I start tuning the MAF Table in Uprev for my custom oversized CAI after taking the datalog that I need from 2.7v. to 4.3v ( at WOT ) I decided to do a quick run from 0-120mph (0-193km/h) the AFR target is 13.25 everywhere while Im tuning the MAF Table and it need more adjustemnet ,, the graph show from 12.9 to 13.7 along the powerband (on my aftermarket Wideband it would be +0.4 to +0.5 leaner so in reality it was 13.3-14.2) ,,, I know on the Dyno I can get atleast 5-10 whp right there Before, with the cracked flywheel for the past year (november 2010 is when it showed on dyno) FULLY MODDED ,, = intake/exhaust/tune/ everything ! Datalog taken from Uprev 0-60 mph = 4.883 sec 0-100 mph = 11.607 0-120 mph = 16.958 40-100 mph = 8.767 40-120 mph = 14.118 Then after I got the Z back from the dealership which replaced my blown tranny and the badly cracked flywheel 4th Nov No intake MOD ,, only Exhaust and Oversized Throttle body using the OEM tune ! not even flashed (afr 11.3 -11.8 ) (using my wideband it would be about 11.7-12.3 AFR ) 0-60 mph = 5.1 0-100 mph = 11.1 0-120 mph = 16.4 40-100 mph = 7.784 40-120 mph = 13.088 Today ! Complete exhaust + CAI + oversized throttle body & Uprev while I tune it ,, which isnt finish at all !!!!! but getting closer & closer. AFR is quite lean so more power can be seeing once the MAF is tuned 0-60 mph = 4.587 0-100 mph = 10.468 0-120 mph = 16.037 40-100 mph = 7.862 40-120 mph = 13.431 the Z is getting faster and faster !!!! I must beat my last time at Napiereville (Quebec , Canada) which was 13.175 at 104.33mph |
