I should hope it is covered under warranty, it sounds like fluid leaked out causing low fluid levels which might have hurt the transmission. You might get lucky and just

I should hope it is covered under warranty, it sounds like fluid leaked out causing low fluid levels which might have hurt the transmission. You might get lucky and just need a seal replaced, the noise going away after filling the trans back up with the correct amount of fluid.
