The Z would be VERY interesting with AWD, but it would also lose the whole tradition of what it has been for decades.

Agreed, not saying to change the platform, but to be one of those 'first to do...' peoples. It would be interesting to see what it could do an an AWD drivetrain.

Anything can be done with money, but the Z is designed around a RWD platform and throwing on an AWD setup would most likely destroy the frame without some major improvements. The extra force from the AWD up front would cause some serious strain.

On the topic at hand, it all depends what you want. FI will provide more power at a major cost and reliability, and NA will provide quicker response, more fluid power but still can be unreliable.

Werd. To be honest, NA power is even more unreliable than FI once you get based boltons+cams.

I don't think one can say that for certain, as it depends on the car, the engine, the driver, the oil, etc etc etc. If that were the case, maybe the RX-7's wouldn't have had so many issues with their turbos with all of the heat affecting them at higher mileages.

Within the constraint of the same engine, obviously. For the sake of this discussion, my statement is correct.

If you're talking hyper-aggressive cams/tune and itb's, you aren't even putting down sc power, and have reliability worse than a Yugo.

more parts also are going to be under more strain as well.. if the motor isn't built for FI, it's going to have more issues... not to mention there are just more parts present that can break as well.

Start with stuffing an AWD G37 setup into the Z, then go FI. I bet it is not as hard as one might think and you can find salvage G37s for $10,000. Including bolting on a TT kit, it will probably be a $30,000 project in the end. While the GTR is built to accommodate FI from the get go, I don't think it looks as nice as the Z and it is too undramatic based from my rides in one as well as driving a Cobb tuned '09 GTR.
