FI or NA
would you rather have a bunch of parts on a car, like a new cai, headers, catback, pully, etc. or a forced induction system. there's alittle more pride in saying that you installed all of the N/A parts, but it can be more cost effective to install a Supercharger (not a kit, just the head and whatever other parts you may need)

Agreed, saying "I have 650whp with twin turbos/supercharged" is not the same as saying "I have 650whp... all motor."
But it's up to the driver what makes you happy at the end of the day.

what would I RATHER have? Well coming from 3 turbocharged cars... i'd RATHER have the turbo. Am I satisfied with the car NA? Yes I am, and being able to achieve around a 12.5 NA with the right choice of mods IMO is quite good for an NA V6. I don't need to go any faster than that.
There comes a point of power vs. driveability when very high hp doesn't matter. I can easily break the tires loose and get sideways with just my ART pipes. Would I ever pay for my car to have an SC or TT? Not in a MILLION friggin years! You get that bug and you are never satisfied with it... not to mention it's not just the 5 or 10 grand for the kit, but it's also the 3" exhaust that you really must have to get the most out of the kit along with perhaps other mods that I am forgetting. You will get ZERO money back if you ever sell the car.. you'll get what it's worth, but all of the money and time you put into it is just gone. |

NA is satisfying for the most part. Am I satisfied with the Z NA? Yes and no. I performs pretty well out of the box. With minimal bolt-ons (I only exhaust at the moment), it can hang with a lot of higher powered cars. FI on the other hand, is like crack. There is nothing like the feeling that you get when the turbos really kick in and throw you back in the seat. Sometimes it can be a painful road though. Like I said, it is like crack and the car may OD and require rehab. For me, turbo all the way. I have had 2 turbo'd S13s and I am a boost junkie. I am not concerned with resale value at all. I gotta pay to play and I do not plan on selling my Z EVER. If I have to sell my Z, things have obviously taken a turn for the horrible and will be the last thing that I sell in a recovery attempt. </end ramble>

Nothing like the reliability and simplicity of a NA build. But then again there's nothing like the feeling of a turbo coming up on boost or the whine of a supercharger spinning up. FI is a big step. Once you take it there's no going back. Your committed.

Unfortunatly I have never owned a turbo or supercharged car Would I like the current Z platform to come turbocharged? Yes, although Iam 100% satisfied with my N/A build thus far. My Zed will be staying N/A. And I, like chris and roplusbee will have to have my keys pryed from my cold dead hands.

If I were ever to go FI with the Z, it would have to be supercharged. The linear and instant power delivery available at all ranges of the rev band suites the balanced character of the Z best in my opinion. My favorite form of forced induction is definitely turbo though, the feeling of coming into boost is intoxicating!

Instead of putting your money into FI, why not look to attempting to put AWD on a Z Just imagine if you had say 400hp all motor, but it was AWD.

Maybe if you want something big and bulky, you loose the compact coupness if you do that.
Power yes AWD yes TT yes Better looking... ooooh, that's a toughy.
