Default Carbonetics LSD installed

On Saturday eve I get a text from my tuner telling me my car is done and he's about to drop it off at my home ( had a 1.5 LSD installed- orginal was an open diff.), the only problem was that I was 180 miles away in coincidently lsd-lower, slower Delaware. So that meant waiting another 24 hours to get to try it out and usually I'm in no hurry to return to NJ.
Well got to try it out a short while ago ( of course were in the middle of monsoon rain storms right now) and even though the streets are wet I felt far more controll and a more sure footprint.
Hopefully tomorrow wil be a little dryer and I'll be able to give it a better evaluation. So far, awesome!

I finally got to try out the car with the lsd installed. What an awesome investment. First off I just had to put down a patch of rubber and although I felt the tires spinning , it felt so much more in control.Once on the road I couldn't wait to take her into a turn (clover leaves are very common here ) and both going into and coming out the turn the back end felt glued to the road.In places where I would see the flashing " you're spinning your tires" light, the light generally stayed off. Most of all the Carbonetics lsd is super quiet, you just don't hear it engaging like some other aftermarket lsds'.
BTW, many folks have posted questions about our Zs' and snow covered roads and from what I just learned that if you have an open diff, then you'll have problems. With an lsd I think that it will be a whloe lot better.

Very nice, love the review! I enjoy reading base diff owners opinions on LSDs since that will be my next major mod, I am most likely going with a Quaife diff though. I agree with you about the open diff making putting power down a bit skittish, it is safer to learn with but you lose a lot of ability to put power down earlier coming out of a turn.

Great review. I know the feeling coming from a open diff to a real LSD. I truely love my OS Giken. Sometimes I can hear it engage on tight turns if I'm going super slow and the radio is off. BUt that's normal. One time it got a little rowdy after a moutain run for I feel it got hot (maybe over heated) but it was brand new at time. Hasn't happen since. Still my best mod to date. Only FI will cancel that out.

How much lock does your have? OSG is 100% on acceleration and 50% on deceleration. I love how it locks on deceleration. And the fact that it doesn't get squirrely at all when this happens is awesome.

The Carbonetics locks very hard on full throttle acceleration which is nice. If any of you track do yourself a favor and look for a diff cooler. The temps I get the diff to are ridiculous, I'm surprised it is still in one piece. Towards the end of a session people following me can smell the burning gear oil.

same question to you.

To OP-- I bet the car really feels great with the carbonetics. Dropping a diff in the car is one of the best mods you can do to a 370. I never got a chance to try the carbonetics out in the 370-- curious to hear more of your thoughts on how it feels next to other diffs you have tried?

I've seen diff temps of 400F as measured in the pits. In typical 20 minute sessions they don't get that high, but if you are doing sessions with only a short 20-30 minute break in between then the heat is held and the temperature builds more quickly. Mostly I see the high temps at events where it is "open track".
