Please help- Intake and hot temps
Hello All-
I need some advice with my car. I have a 2009 370z with test pipes, exhaust, takeda intake. I am not an expert but i understand cars so please dont bash. One of the black plastic canisters that attaches to my intake broke the other day. I simply put a breather filter on the motor on both sides, and plugged the intakes so that it was not getting a vacuum leak. The other day I was driving on the Highway and realized that I had oil temps around 230-240f. This was in no traffic and every day driving. I am in Texas however, so it is 105 degrees out. I went to Nissan, and they told me I had to get the whole oem intake at 499.00 to get the little black canister. This is on the drivers side intake by the way. That was the reason for the fix I did. My question is: how can I fix this without buying that 500 piece? Are breather filters okay? Is this probably what is causing my heating issues? Please give me some advice guys! |

Post on the for sale section that you are looking to buy that black canister piece. Maybe someone has a spare.
Or look on the courtesy parts website and see if you can buy that piece individually.

Yes you can, you'll have to do it to both sides and remove the breeder hoses that connect both sides.

Does anyone know for sure what the purpose of those little plastic bits are anyways? Is there anything inside them like a filter or valve? Or are they just there to bend the direction of the hose?

emissions purposes. The shape is so everything fits with the cover. I know one guy who removed it on a HR.

It's a PVC Filter and it shouldn't affect oil temps. The ambient temps are plain hot and without an oil cooler are normal it's not like you're hitting 250 and higher. I'd suggest turning on the AC to lower the oil temps a little, And I would suggest an oil cooler if you have not installed on yet.
On a correct fix? You may have to buy a used set just for that part unless you get lucky that someone's nice enough to just sell you that piece, And like KingBaby suggested A local salvage or online salvage will have it but will probably try to sell you the whole unit. |
