Nissan Motorsports Oil Coolers
Hey guys,
I wanted to give you a heads up about another oil cooler option that has recently become available. It's an oil cooler kit created by Nissan Motorsports and can be ordered through any Nissan dealer; the parts advisor might not be aware of the part, but he/she should be able to find it with the part number. My understanding is that the oil cooler kit is a Nissan Motorsports Competition Part, which is different than a Genuine Nissan Accessory (comes with a warranty).
The Stillen kit is definitely a nice and less expensive solution, but the core is a lot smaller. In terms of capacity the Nissan Motorsports kit is a lot closer to the Central 20 kit from Japan, which is significantly more expensive. I don't know what Stillen's targets were, but based on the core size shown in their pictures, it seems unlikely that it would provide enough cooling for a 20 min track session at a HPDE in hot climates (80+ deg F). Not trying to knock the Stillen kit in any way because it looks like a nice kit at a great price. I'm just glad that there are more more (arguably) affordable solutions than the ones from Japan, which can cost a couple grand! |

So RCZ, what do you think after your track session this past weekend? Are you going to get a bigger core? I was surprised that the Setrab core in the Stillen kit only has a capacity of .4 qt (I have the kit in my garage and looked up the part no. on Setrab's website). Doesn't seem like much. But apparently the soon to be released Technosquare kit uses the exact same core.

I hit 250 today just driving, no stop-n-go traffic, no hills, just driving. Not that I can afford to spend that kind of money on a part that should have come with the car, but I suppose the options are thin.

Then why would Nissan sell headers and intakes for Z's and G's, if they are not going to cover the warranty?
