I had issue with high and varied oil temps before 1st oil change. I decided to go with Motul 300v Racing 5w-30 and my temps run more stable and have yet to exceed 225-230ish with high spirited driving out here in So Cal. I will probably go with an oil cooler when I have the $$$, just to be safe. We should all schedule a day and time to call Nissan and complain. Maybe that will get their attention???

I finished break in this morning. At 220 degrees and 62 ambient, I finally got to rev up the car and drive spiritedly. Within three miles I was at 245 and slowed it down where it very slowly dropped back.
I just got off the phone with the dealership and ordered an oil cooler, Part Number: 21300-SS370 MSRP: $780 plus 4 hours labor $1300+. It should arrive in two or more weeks. This part will not void warrenty, so I will pay extra. The only pleasent news was I 'll get a loaner for the day. Last edited by Mt Tam I am; 06-16-2010 at 02:49 PM. Reason: incomplete thought |

Don't waste your time complaining to Nissan and expecting a free solution. We all went through this last summer. I even have the number for the Nissan support rep for my area...not the most compassionate or helpful person.
If you're seeing high oil temps (over 230), just invest in a cooler. You can build your own and install it yourself for $300 or you can go the other extreme and have Nissan install the Nissan Motorsports cooler kit for $1300. Just realize that you have no warranty if the cooler malfunctions in any scenario (ie, there is no real benefit to having Nissan install it if you're capable of doing it alone).

Thx Triple's, I had seen their oil filter when it came out, heard nothing after that. Most peeps were going with Stillen's, Modshack, or Nissan. Will have to do a search on the forum for any feedback on GTM.

I personally went the Modshack route but had a local hose company make some very overengineered hoses to avoid any blowout potential.

Ha ha! I would (but I doubt they will...) Even Car and Driver had the "Factory" Nissan Motorsports cooler fittings fail... And this installed for the press cars! |
